The Queen is dead, long live the King….

‘Succession’ is a media buzz word right now, with the coronation of King Charles III marking his transition as the new head of ‘the Firm’, and not to mention the much awaited release of series 4 of the hit American drama bearing that name.

But what does ‘succession’ mean to us mere mortals?

You may have family wealth that you want to protect and pass down the family line for the benefit of other generations. We can certainly help you with that. A carefully drawn Will may be just the ticket, perhaps including a Will Trust and/or perhaps the creation of a lifetime Trust. These are all things to explore with you.

You may own a business and are considering how to protect your interests or the interests of other parties if something were to happen to you, i.e. should you die or lose your capacity whilst in post as director. There are a number of factors to consider when looking at business/commercial succession. A business Lasting Power of Attorney is most certainly something you should consider as a key feature of your crisis management strategy, especially if you are a sole trader or the sole director of a small private company or a director of several businesses.
